I just thought it was funny. I had made a spicy tofu salad with these "Thai Chilies" that turned out spicier than I thought. I had gotten these thin 4 cm (1.5 inch) chilies from a local Asian grocery, last week they had slightly different ones that were a little bit sweet still spicy but not very spicy. These were all they had yesterday and they were very spicy. After my girlfriend complained that the salad was too spicy I told her she could drop a piece (say a 1-2mm (1/16 inch) slice) on the ground so the dog would learn that he couldn't eat everything on the ground. Well he did find that chili pepper. He was convinced that it was something to eat. The problem was that if he got his nose too close he would run away. He would run in, smell it then run to his bed roll on his back and spin around in circles. He then would go to it and go "Oh something on the floor for me to eat!" and go and smell it again, then he would jump up and down and run away. After 6 or more rounds of this, with us laughing at him, he decided to try barking at. Then he ran at it really fast and picked up in his mouth and ran back to his bed. He spit it out immediately of course, he hated it! Then he tried rolling around on it, then he smelled his bed and he didn't like it any more. He would circle his bed and step in, look at it, smell it and then jump out of his bed and run in a circle. Finally he sat down, outside of his bed and had a mild case of hiccups. We finally stopped laughing at him, and took the little tiny bit of pepper away from him and put it in the trash. He went back into his bed sniffed around and looked very relieved to be able to lie down in peace after having been chased from his bed by the little tiny slice of pepper. -- -R*S Berlin, Deutschland Robin * Slomkowski schipperke@s.rslomkow.org Duco, 11.06.2004 http://duco.parts-unknown.com
